How to Make a Dry Ice Bubble

Materials

  1. Dry Ice
  2. Metal Bowl filled midway with warm water
  3. Cup of Warm Water
  4. Dish Soap
  5. String

Instructions

  1. Ahead of time, fill a cup with warm water and add a small amount of dish soap.
  2. Stir the mixture and place in a large string, at least the width of the metal bowl.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Fill the large metal bowl filled midway with warm water.
  5. Carefully add roughly a “handful” of dry ice (REMEMBER DRY ICE IS DANGEROUS AND MUST BE HANDLED WITH CARE AND WITH PROPER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT)
  6. Dip your finger in the soap-water mixture and trace the rim of the metal bowl so that it is well-saturated.
  7. Remove the string from the soap-water micture and stretch it tight. Slide it along the top of the bowl, slowly, taking care to ensure the string isn’t vibrating or hanging into the bowl. This may take several tries so don’t be discouraged!
  8. Enjoy watching the bubble grow!
